Discover world-famous ancient sites, explore two lovely Greek islands, sample traditional Grecian dishes, and soak in the seaside lifestyle on this private, 3-day tour of the Peloponnese.
Day 1: Corinth Canal – Mycenae – Nafplio town – Epidaurus Ancient Theater
Beginning with an early start (8 a.m.) from Athens, you’ll be picked up and transported to some of Greece’s best-known landmarks: the Corinth Canal, the ruins of Mycenae, and Epidaurus, famous for its ancient, open-air theater.
You’ll also have the chance to linger in the quaint port & town of Nafplio before venturing to Ermioni peninsular village, a peaceful port town at the tip of the peninsula where you’ll have the chance to wander the old town before a delicious dinner at a seaside taverna.
Day 2: Hydra Island [no cars – only donkeys and … cats]
After spending the night at a private, two-bedroom apartment overlooking the sea, your second day will be devoted to Hydra Island, a romantic and beautiful island with a cosmopolitan town and picturesque port of its own.
[Video: Eudaimonia Private Tours – September 2023: Approaching from the mainland]
Visit the very historic and very upscale island of Hydra; the hiding place of the rich, the famous, and the artists from all over the world. No cars, no noise but still extremely popular and relaxed! Explore on foot and enjoy the views and the amazing deep blue.
[Video: Eudaimonia Private Tours – Autumn 2023: A boat tour of the island]
Discover Hydra’s sights on foot, and maybe save time for a dip in the turquoise sea or catch the boat that takes you around the island. Return to Ermioni any time you like and enjoy dinner by the village’s waterfront. Some people choose to enjoy a second visit to Hydra!
Day 3: At Ermioni village
This is the place where you will spend all your nights and will also be your base to explore and relax. On day 3, you can self-explore and discover what real Greece is like. The views, the walks, the coastline, the tavernas and coffee shops next to the water, the people, the food, and the drink.
Remember: This is a tour to relax while exploring and finding out everything about real Greece! Not the Greece you see in Athens, the “famous/spoilt” islands, the faceless restaurants, and the crowded archeological sites.
Day 4: Exploring the surrounding area: Villages, sites and the huge coastline
We will explore the area in our private vehicle to see all there is to see and feel. The local villages (mostly by the water), the local sites (monasteries, caves), and the beautiful coastline, beaches, and local farm areas.
You will (optionally) spend some beach time with or without swimming choosing one of the numerous beautiful spots of the area even just to get your feet wet. The area you will based is a hidden gem that has attracted celebrities and wealthy people who are not seeking publicity to create beautiful properties and visit all year around. This is why you will see hotels like AmanZoe for 2,000 EUR/night accommodation!
Day 5: Spetses or Poros island
You will access Spetses Island by boat which is only a 10-minute ride from the mainland. The port location to catch the boat is 30 minutes from your base (Ermioni village) and we will drive you there and pick you up too on the way back. You will decide how much time you would like to spend on the island to explore and enjoy lunch. Spetses is an island boasting a long naval tradition and is famous for its significant contribution to the 1821 War of Independence.
The island has managed to retain its traditional character thanks to its well-preserved grand captain mansions witness to the island’s glorious past. The picturesque old harbor is where the heart of the island’s entertainment beats.
Option 1: Poros is another island optional visit instead of Spetses. This is an 80-minute drive from Ermioni village and only a 5-minute boat ride to the island.
Option 2: Another option is to visit the Methana peninsula which looks a lot like an island with a narrow crossing from the mainland.
Day 6: Explore and return to Athens
Great Doline of Didima Dolines at Didyma village is a rare geological phenomenon intriguing to specialists. These special sinkholes were created by natural processes of erosion. Stone tools that date back to the Late Neolithic Age, found in one of the sinkholes, attest to their use as shelters since the prehistoric age. Two cave churches, Saint George and Jesus Transfiguration, are built under the cliff of one of the doline walls.
Avgo Monastery: Inspiring Awe and Reverence! We will visit a very remote and beautifully located old monastery overlooking a canyon and the water at the end of it.
☼ Five-night accommodation, all arranged at a local guesthouse with all-around sea views.
☼ Breakfast on a self-catering basis with all necessary items included (mostly locally produced) plus welcome dessert++. Breakfast by the water is also an option!
☼ Each person is allowed one normal-size suitcase and a small carry-on bag.
☼ In-car bottled water & tour information booklet.
☼ Tickets to the sites and boats to the islands.
☼ Licensed guide to the archeological sites of Mycenae & Epidaurus (optional).
☼ Dinners and other personal expenses.
☼ Tourist stops at souvenir shops unless required by themselves.
☼ Pickup and drop-off in areas outside of Athens (possible additional cost).
