Private Day Tour to Aegina, the “Pistachio” Island – Amazing Views from the Temple of Athina Aphaia – St Nektarios Monastery – A Unique Boat Getaway
€620
The Athenians’ all-year-round go-to destination!
If you are in Athens, a private tour of Aegina Island is one of the best full-day getaway authentic destinations, without the “hordes of tourists,” but with small-scale beauty and simplicity. The island itself, the biggest church and monastery of St. Nektarios, the Temple of Athina Aphaia with its amazing views, and the fishing villages to enjoy lunch and drinks by the water.

We start with a hotel pick-up and then to the port of Piraeus for a great boat ride enjoying the views from the ferry’s decks or the air-conditioned sitting areas for 1 h and 10 minutes. Just enough time to breathe the sea air but not too much to make you feel tired or bored! The tour is operated with our private cars for your transfer from Athens to the port and then for exploring the island, but we use the commercial ferry boat to travel to the island. We do not provide a private yacht!
Aegina Island is a pine green island that you’ll explore privately with your tour leader and full flexibility. A beautiful, relaxing island in the Saronic Gulf facing Athens with small fishing villages, and a “swimming pool-like” water.
We’ll visit the island’s famous Saint Nectarios monastery, explore the Perdika fishing village, and enjoy the Temple of Athena Aphaia with its amazing views.
Finally, your tour leader will recommend the best location for an authentic lunch right next to the water before returning to the return boat trip.
You can also consider the addon/option of swimming by extending the day or adjusting the itinerary.
Depending on the time of the year, you could enjoy an undistracted sunset while cruising back to Athens.
Overall, this one-day private tour to Aegina Island is an excellent way to experience a real Greek Island without the typical touristy feeling!

We Greeks, all know Aegina, the beautiful island of the Saronic Gulf. Some of us because of the famous pistachio, but most of us because it is always there. It’s there in the winter, it’s there during summer, it’s there when you have nowhere else to go; It is always there for you…
Meet your private driver/tour leader for your 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. departure to the port of Athens, Piraeus. We board the ferry for a 1h10 min ride with great views of little islands and the Athens Riviera.

Aegina is a lovely island at a close distance from Athens. This is why it gets very popular as a weekend destination for the Athenians. The most important sight in Aegina Greece is the Ancient Temple of Athena Aphaia, constructed in the 6th century BC.

The Aegina port, where the ferry arrives, is the central meeting point for the locals, with several coffee shops, restaurants, and beautiful pedestrian narrow streets. While exploring, you will, of course, encounter the famous Aegina pistachios. The island is covered by pistachio trees!

Andrea & family
The Temple of Aphaia is one of the major attractions on the island of Aegina. Built on a hill at 160 meters, it is surrounded by pine trees and stands out for its unique energy. Since prehistoric times (1300 B.C.), it has been a unique place of worship!
One of the most visited sites on Aegina is the church and monastery of Agios Nektarios. Agios Nektarios was known as a great miracle worker, particularly as a healer of every sort of disease, he was also a prolific writer, theologist, philosopher, moralist, educator, poet, ascetic, and mystic.

On the island’s southern edge lies the small fishing village of Perdika. This is perhaps one of the most picturesque spots on the island and still has the characteristics of the Aegean style of square houses and narrow streets. Many tavernas enjoy fresh fish next to the water.

Optional: From the Perdika fishing village, you can take a small boat to the island of Moni. It is a very short boat ride (10 min) to Moni Island, where you can swim (or not) in the crystal-clear waters of the beach and have drinks.

We return to Athens by ferry to enjoy the sunset, depending on the time of year and the boat’s timetable. Normally, we should be back at your hotel around 5-6 pm.

From Athens. Your hotel or any other pre-arranged meeting point very close to your location. For other starting locations please contact us.
Depending on the time of year, you can arrange to include this add-on experience to your itinerary:
Swimming [isle of Moni]

Please contact us for details and pricing. Not all add-ons can be included in all tours either because of time limitations (daylight time, closing times of sites) or because of the time of the year, etc. Some add-ons require an earlier starting time than the typical 8:00 a.m. pick-up.
These are reminders and additions to things you have already read in other sections.
All our tours include lunch and drinks, and all multi-day tours include quality accommodation. Professional guide, dinner (on multi-day tours), and all kinds of tickets (sites, trains, boats, etc) are not included. You can read more about “What is included & excluded in our tours and why!” from our FAQs-not-4-DUMMIES.
☼ To keep our vehicles fresh and comfortable, we ask that guests avoid eating or drinking (except water). Water is always available, and we’ll stop along the way as needed if you need to snack.
☼ Fish and seafood are not included in our budget, as their costs cannot be estimated with sufficient accuracy in advance. Pescatarian guests are invited to enjoy our delicious vegetarian cuisine during the tour. In the evenings, we’ll recommend the best spots for fresh seafood so you can experience it at your leisure. Got allergies, several restrictions, or foods you don’t enjoy? Tell us in advance, and we’ll do our best to please you!
☼ After you book, we will ask for some of the following: any food allergies, a single passport number (required by local authorities), names of all passengers, luggage details, pickup/drop-off locations, and a WhatsApp number, which is very helpful during the tour.
☼ Luggage is typically not included on day tours. In other situations (multi-day tours or transfers), we expect a maximum of one checked bag per person [65x40x25 cm or 26x16x10 inches] and a carry-on or backpack. We do not allow luggage on the vehicle’s seats or in your laps to protect both our passengers and our vehicles. If you have additional luggage, please let us know in advance. We can arrange for a larger vehicle or help you store part of it. We may have to cancel if you … surprise us!
☼ If you are too tall or heavy, we need to know in advance! If we have advance notice, we can arrange the appropriate vehicle. Please use 225 lbs (105 Kg) as the maximum weight you need to inform us of. If in doubt, please let us know your weight and height before you book, and we’ll get back to you. It’s not a personal question, but for your own comfort! We can use a larger vehicle if we have advance notice.
☼ An adult must always accompany children (minimum age is 8 years). Please let us know if anyone gets car sick! Greece is not flat!
☼ Due to uneven surfaces, most tours are not suitable for people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users. We apologize for this, but if the sites don’t or can’t accommodate people with mobility issues, we can’t help.
☼ We are flexible on tour duration, so there is no rush during the tour. We also expect you to be reasonable and respect your driver/tour leader’s efforts. Sometimes there are specific restrictions (like not missing the sites’ closing times during the off-season or catching a train, boat, etc.) which will “dictate” our itinerary/timing and require your full cooperation!

Eudaimonia reserves the right to change or cancel your booking without any penalties beyond offering a full refund. Should change and/or cancellation prove necessary we will give you -if possible- reasonable notice & where available, offer you a comparable alternative. If an alternative is not available or acceptable you will be entitled to a full refund.
Eudaimonia encourages all clients to communicate as early as possible concerning cancellation issues which could allow the agency to offer a better refund – partial or full- to a client despite the standard cancellation policy described in this document. This is a decision not to be discussed with or disputed by the client and will be made entirely by Eudaimonia to better serve the client if it is possible.
Eudaimonia itineraries are flexible, and if possible, the requirements of clients will be facilitated. Eudaimonia reserves the right to vary, modify, or cancel any itinerary, either partly or wholly. The Client agrees to all the above when booking any of Eudaimonia’s tours and services.
