The Olympic Flame begins its journey to Tokyo

The Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was held today (March 12, 2020) in Ancient Olympia, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos (but no spectators due to coronavirus).

Greek Olympic Champion Anna Korakaki became the first woman in Olympic history to serve as first torchbearer and receive the flame from the High Priestess.
