Coronavirus vaccine comes in olive-green color!

This is an 18 lt container which is about 1/3 or 1/4 of the quantity needed for a typical non-junk-food Greek family, per year.

The real color is what you see here, and not what you buy from the groceries which is an almost clear/transparent mix of other “olive” oils with a little bit of real olive oil at a very high price.

The Sparta area is one of the best olive-oil producing areas of Greece. The brand name on the bottle above (MOLON LAVE*) is the famous phrase King Leonidas of the “300” Spartans replied to the 150,000 Persians that “requested” from the Spartans to surrender and save their lives. MOLON LAVE means “come and get it”.

I can hear you! Yes, it’s Kalamata olives that you know about and not Sparta. These two cities are next to each other at the south region of the Mythical Peloponnese. So, the olives and olive oil is very similar if not the same thing. But, remember that things are not always as you read in travel blogs. There are other places in Greece besides Sparta & Kalamata and still on the Peloponnese region that produce even better olive oil! Myths & truth! You need to visit the country and explore, taste and discover by yourselves.

The last time I visited an olive press was in January 2020 while touring with people from the USA. We bought some olive oil straight from the tap and at a crazy cheap price (plus the 750 ml free/gift from the owner!). Besides the low cost, the other thing that the Americans commented on was the olive oil’s color. They bought some for their friends and they said that their friends will be worried about the green color which is not what they are all used to!

Enjoy!
