Tour leaders accompany travelers throughout the entire trip, whereas licensed tour guides are typically only present for a specific part of the journey, such as accompanying you inside an archeological site and explaining in detail the history behind it.

Always remember that the laws in Greece do not allow non-licensed tourist guides (like your tour leader/driver) to accompany you inside the archeological sites even as a “friend”. It is totally up to you if you would like to explore the sites at your leisure or ask us for a licensed guide.
